Hm, can't reproduce this with oolite 1.65-6+b1 on my Sid i386 box.
Will test on Etch later.

Any chance you could try the version from Lenny/Sid?

And a Debian default kernel? Like the 2.6.18 from Etch or the 2.6.24
from Etch+1/2?
