Package: openarena
Version: 0.8.1-6
Severity: important
Tags: patch
As suggested on #523323; see that bug for background.
Severity important because it blocks #523323, which is a GPL violation; fixing
the GPL violation in some other way would also be fine, of course. The
changes I suggested for #523323 shouldn't be uploaded until a version with
these patches enters testing.
I haven't attached a patch because it's pretty huge (it incorporates the
game logic from openarena-modSDK-0.8.1.tar.bz2 as a "patch"). However,
changes are available from:
http://git.debian.org/?p=users/smcv/openarena.git
git://git.debian.org/users/smcv/openarena.git
Another possible packaging for the game logic would be to apply it as a
secondary orig.tar.gz, rather than as a patch; however, that would probably
require setting up two build systems in the same package, and managing some
duplication.
openarena-modSDK-0.8.1.tar.bz2 would be a good basis for such a secondary
tarball, but would need repacking to remove the non-free compiler, q3lcc
(if q3lcc was free, we wouldn't need to go such lengths!)
Regards,
Simon
