Bug#519255: 0.8.1 fails to load a game saved with 0.7.4

Steps to reproduce:
1) wget http://iki.fi/lindi/freecol/testcase1.fsg
2) freecol
3) Open
4) Choose testcase1.fsg

Expected results:
4) State of game is loaded from file.

Actual results:
4) freecol prints "An error occured while trying to load the game!" in
a window where copy&pasting is disallowed. Freecol does not print any
error messages to stdout/stderr here.

More info:
1) After I downgraded to 0.7.4.dfsg+1-1 from

http://ftp.fi.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/freecol/freecol_0.7.4.dfsg+1-1_all.deb

I am able to load saved games again.

2) I reported this upstream at
