Just wanted to report I'm also having this problem. I understand "me too" messages aren't usually very useful but I thought this 
could be since I have different version and architecture as the original reporter.

If I change the Serverlist Adress to pokerth.debian.net/serverlist.xml.z I get a different error:

"The PokerTH server does not support this version of the game.
Please go to http://www.pokerth.net and download the latest version."
