Yeah, well, I had to choose one and for now I settled on pkg-gnome for the
following weak reasons:
- most tarballs coming from ftp.gnome.org are there.
- pkg-gnome has developed a good amount of scripts that deal with some of
the particularities of the GNOME configure scripts or GNOME
technologies (for example, dealing with gsettings, autoconf and stuff
like that). When these scripts change, the GNOME team members sometimes
update the source packages in batch.
- Subversion. We haven't found a compelling reason to move to git, as our
process works smoothly with SVN and our scripts are build around it.
I'm a lot more confident with SVN that with Git still, and still have a
hard time using git-buildpackage or gitpkg.
However, it's not my intention to leave you in the cold, so I guess I'll
be moving these to pkg-games just to let you participate, as that's just
logical and fair. :)
Thanks for bringing this up!
