   * What led up to the situation?
Using chromium and ending up in FullScreen mode.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Tried to use the suggested shortcuts, ESC, F11, Alt-F,
On startup I tried to click on the bubble saying Press F11 to exit fullscreen.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Still in full screen mode
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Windowed mode.
