Thanks for the heads-up.  I uploaded a new package for ogre-1.8 about
1 week ago, but it's not been approved to enter Debian yet.  Maybe it
has some technical problems that will make it to be rejected in the
first round, let's see; but probably is just that FTP-masters (the
people in charge to accept it into the archive) are overloaded with
work for the upcoming freeze for the stable release.

Anyway, work is under way, and ogre-1.7 and 1.8 will probably co-exist
for a while.
