I see your point, but you are talking about private packages, whereas we 
have to decide about official distro ones. It's difficult to foresee 
everything private packagers can do. :)

On the other hand, we could keep the /usr/share/... entry for the sake 
of Manu's reply concerning automated download:

I think we discussed this already some ago, and IIRC the consensus was
that it should go in a separate mame-extra-download package ( which
could also handle other mame ressources like artwork YMMV )


which is a good idea IMO.
