I had a look at the code while trying to forward-port the proposed
patch. It seems that in xteddy 2.2 that issue has already been fixed,
though differently than in the proposed patch.

Is anyone out there able to reproduce this issue? I am not with
gnome-shell (i.e. compositing window manager) on i915 graphics.
