It looks like you have file somewhere on your system that the steam
binary wants to overwrite but bails out instead.  It's not clear which
file is the problem.

I recommend forwarding this to Valve, since no changes can be made to
the steam binary.  You may also want to give the newer 1.0.0.48-1
package a try.
