Completely by coincidence, after playing with an upstream release
candidate (S2_4 r24328, close to what will be 2.4.2) I found my console
full of
(freeciv-gtk2:1983): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

(I didn't notice any obvious trouble.)

This isn't directly applicable to Debian, since I wasn't using the
Debian package and am running Ubuntu 12.04, but it seems to indicate
that it's a live issue.
