if newer version are incompatible with previosly savestates (freezes)
this are unuseless

if u taking about read memcards, modify the patch aroud linked
directorys can help , but this
are not u'r responsability, are job for upstream, so forwarding the issue

and package without verifing previously savesttes..
as i know, pcsx now are pcsxr and nor are same, due older pcsxr was a
remaser of pcsx

this are not dificult, in debian git there are 4 moths of inactivity
