That works ! But it just show you the inside of a yellow cube;
not so much fun.

I mean by 'demo' the cut down version of the full game.

I found this and unpacked it with wine (Installshield wizard):
http://www.fileplanet.com/145822/download/DOOM-3-Demo

tchet at antec:~$ find .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Doom\ 3\ Demo/
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/Doom3.exe
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/INSTALL.LOG
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/UNWISE.EXE
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/Docs
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/Docs/License.txt
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/Docs/readme.txt
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/Docs/MSR.txt
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/demo
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/demo/demo00.pk4
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Doom 3 Demo/gamex86.dll

The most interresting file is demo00.pk4,
but I can't get it to work with rbdoom3bfg;
and I don't know either if it's supposed to work at all

Sys_Error: Couldn't load default.cfg

As an habit (it's not really a policy written somewhere)
for all games with a free engine & non-free data;
Doom3 BFG should either
"Depends: doom3bfg-data | doom3bfg-demo-data | game-data-packager"
or
"Depends: doom3bfg-data | game-data-packager"
depending if the demo data can be used.

Then your README.Debian should point to G-D-P.

I found this,
http://doomwiki.org/wiki/Doom_3:_BFG_Edition
but it's hard to tell if "original" Doom 3 data works with rbdoom3bfg,

I think only the BFG version is open sourced,
so owner of Doom 3 data would have to rebuy the same game again :-(
