The map is only the background image for the start screen and serves no
game related purpose. The resolution of the background is fixed. However
when you start the game by choosing one of the scenarios (S), you can
change the resolution to your desired dimensions. Again you can open the
menu by right-clicking. There are several options and one of them
provides the "change the resolution" feature.
