The bug is only serious if the package built before and is
'out-of-date'.

Please use __mips__ and not _MIPS_ARCH_MIPS2. The latter define depends
on the default -march setting in GCC which will:
a) fail on non-Debian compilers (noone else uses mips2)
b) fail if the default -march is ever increased (eg to mips32r2).
c) needlessly fail on mips64el
