Bug#849360: Missing text in non-C locale

Hi,

no text was appearing in the GUI when starting minetest ; poking around 
for usual suspects with text disappearances, the usual "LANG=C minetest" 
trick made all text reappear, so it looks like a localization issue, and 
we have a workaround for the problem.
