Bug#917640: steam: Missing .desktop file to launch steam from desktop env

Dear Maintainer,

I seem to be missing a .desktop file to launch steam. I can run it from
the command line (/usr/games/steam is in $PATH), but there is no sign
of a .desktop file, so I can't find it in gnome anywhere. This seems to be
a significant oversight? I have .desktop files for games installed through
steam, but none for steam itself.
