Source: openarena
Version: 0.8.8-1
Severity: serious
Tags: pending
Justification: Policy 2.1

openarena_0.8.8.orig.tar.gz has been repacked to exclude non-free files,
but the expressions used to exclude those files were incorrect. As a
result it unintentionally still contains source code for the q3lcc C
compiler, a version of lcc modified by id Software for Quake III Arena,
which carries a license grant prohibiting selling lcc "or any product
derived from it in which it is a significant part of the value of the
product".

(It is possible that id Software obtained permission to sublicense lcc
under the GPL, but unfortunately we don't have any particular evidence
of that, so we have to assume the license grants in the source files are
still true.)

lcc does appear to be distributable as part of something larger (like
Debian, or indeed OpenArena), just not Free Software; so this is a DFSG
problem (breaks our self-imposed rules) but not a copyright problem.
