On May 2nd Valve created a Github repository[0] for the steam-devices udev rules which is MIT licensed. Unless I'm misunderstanding I believe this means we can make any modifications we want to these udev rules now, so this bug should be easily resolvable [0] https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-devices
