Wesnoth produces high load on my CPU while playing. This has been already reported also in the wesnoth forum
https://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48666 by other people.
The reported workaround to launch wesnoth with
 
OMP_WAIT_POLICY="passive" wesnoth
 
works for me.
