pente fails to cross build from source, because upstream's configure.in
figures that when cross building AC_CHECK_SIZEOF does not work. That
used to be true very long ago, but it no longer is the case. Thus we can
simplify configure.in while making it work at the same time. Please
consider applying the attached patch.
