Some people reviewed these changes (for another distro)
and they claim it will break in other places for 3.13 ...

It was a big burden to maintain for little functionality.

If the upstream projects absolutely wants to retain
Py2+3 compatibility, they can migrate to six
(that did happened for some projects)
