Bug#1065414: gargoyle-free: Backport fontconfig fix into 2022.1?

Dear Maintainer,

There's a bug with fontconfig in gargoyle 2022.1 that has been fixed in commit
524a1b6, and the fix is in 2023.1. This bug crashes the 2022.1 version (see
https://github.com/garglk/garglk/issues/827), so is it possible to backport the
fix into the old version or release the new version in the stable channel?
