I see that the package games-simulation (version 5) recommends csmash
and gktpool which are not in unstable.

This can be seen in

Should they be dropped or changed?

I see that https://tracker.debian.org has information on the not
available packages:

- https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/csmash : removed in 2023-07-30
- https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/gktpool : likely should have been
  gtkpool, which was removed in 2023-08-24
