[Pkg-giraffe-discuss] Debian Giraffe on salsa.d.o

Hi,

I guess most of the people from Debian Giraffe have already read about
the planned shutdown of Alioth due the underlying system and used
packages for providing the Alioth platform.

Since few weeks a new service called Salsa [1] has been set up by the
maintainers of the Alioth platform. It's based on GitLab and working
well even if the maintainers are talking about salsa.d.o is in beta
mode. Currently over 6.000 projects have been moved to Salsa in the last
weeks.

I have created a group Debian Giraffe [2] and already imported
kopanocore and kopano-webapp into that namespace. Both repositories are
up2date to the current packaging I'd like to push future work primarily
to the Salsa service instead of Alioth.
I will move more of the git trees from Alioth to Salsa in the next weeks.

Every Debian Developer (typically called DD) has a account on Salsa and
can act always as 'Developer', but people without a DD state (like
Debian Maintainers - DMs) need to create a new login for themselves.
Without such a account it's impossible to give access rights on the git
trees in the group (and other things).

So I'd like to encourage our contributors on Debian Giraffe to create a
personal login on salsa.debian.org.

The wiki site for salsa.d.o. [3] is holding some useful information how
things work (or also not work) on Salsa. The FAQ section on Salsa holds
also some information about the various project members permissions [4].
