as for the JSONException error, this is because PHP 7.3 has a 'JSONException' builtin now:

http://php.net/manual/en/class.jsonexception.php

changing the few places where the class is used into 'ZarafaJSONException' makes it work again. I can even login to webapp now, even though it seems very slow to load. am investigating that now.. :P 

I would realllly like to also attempt to get webapp in, obviously.. ;-) ;-)
