And the workflow to release a new ImageMagick is basically this:
- get the latest version from ftp://ftp.imagemagick.org/pub/ImageMagick/
- edit debian/rules and change the IMAGEMAGICKVERSION variable if needed
- use "dch -i" if you are including a new changelog entry or "dch -a"
if you are appending a new entry (do some tests locally that you will
see the difference much better than I can explain)
- since we use UNRELEASED while the package is still not uploaded,
after the final changes we use a "dch -r"; it will update the package
distribution (replace UNRELEASED to experimental, for example) and
update the changelog date.

Then build the package, run lintian on the .changes file, install and
test it locally.
debdiff, interdiff, etc is also good to use.
