OK, I think you have pointed me in the right direction. I'm not using a
desktop - just icewm. If I change to a different WM the problem goes
away and if I start icewm without a configuration file it also goes
away, so there is something wrong with my configuration. I'll have to
work on it to find what is causing the problem.
