Hello,

I'm new to Debian packaging and I want to add my application 'limereg'
to the Debian repository. This offers unique high performance, yet
versatile, image registration, which was created in cooperation with a
scientific institute (Fraunhofer). The final goal is to add it to
Imagemagick. In this e-mail I'm kindly asking for a Debian sponsor.

Image registration, in case this is new to you, is the process of
aligning two or more images of the same scene taken at di
fferent times,
from di
ferent viewpoints and/or by di
ferent sensors. An input image
will be (e.g.) shifted and rotated automatically to be aligend to a
reference image. A popular use case is HDR fotography, where several
images with different exposure times are overlayed. When the images
differ slightly the shift and rotation between each other has to be
eliminated - which is possible by image registration. There are,
however, countless other applications also.

My roadmap:
1) Add the limereg command line utility to to Debian, if possible
2) Add the liblimereg library to Debian. (Offers the same functionality
- but as a shared lib)
3) Add limereg to Imagemagick (liblimereg will be detected by configure)
4) Then, finally, you guys can add liblimereg as a prerequisite for your
Imagemagick package, and ... ta da ... have image registration available
in your Imagemagick distribution.

I hope, this sequence/roadmap makes any sence. Again, open source
contribution is new to me. I'm a professional programmer since 1997 and
I'm willing to put effort into this. But I need a Debian Sponsor.

Regards,
Roelof
