Package: imagemagick
Version: 8:6.9.10.23+dfsg-2.1+b1
Severity: minor

Imagemagick ships with a /etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml which sets hard
resource usage limits which make no sense for generic desktop machines
less than ten years old.

https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick/issues/396 hosts a discussion
on this topic where "coaxial" in 2017 suggested to multiply resource
limits relative to memory and disk usage by 8, which is prudential for
any low-end machine in practical desktop usage nowadays.

In my opinion, the default values should be significantly increased
during Debian installation: multiplying them by 8 is a conservative
solution that would vastly improve on the current situation.

And, perhaps more importantly, the Debian installation docs should
clearly document how to make these changes or, better yet, dconf should
be used to scale those values by a agiven value, with a default based on
the installed physical memory.
