Did it happen only once? Looking at the code, I have trouble
understanding how it could do that. The only possible explanation I have
in mind is that your real score was 36856, and that it got incremented
by some mysterious voodoo spell after the game ended. If you have a way
to reproduce the bug, please provide it :)
