Well, I do not consider this as resolved.

It should be possible to edit the filename directly.
Pressing "F2" is not an option, especially if it is not shown in the menu.

There is no reason not to allow direct editing by clicking on the filename.
This is the only intuitive way for doing it.

This is a showstopper for nautilus.
A graphical user interface that is used by all kinds of users should not
be like this.
I am still using the console midnight commander, as it also allows changing
the file permissions for multiple files (which is also not possible in
nautilus, this has been reported for years, see the GNOME BTS).

Please merge this bug report with #197372 (I do not know how to this or
whether I am allowed to do this as a non-developer)
