Ok, so we need more details:

* how often does it happen ? 

* what are you doing to have the problem (right click on the desktop to
  mount the drive and after using it eject in the right-click menu) ? 

* is fam running as standalone or inetd/xinetd (dpkg-reconfigure fam to
  change that) ? If it's running as inetd/xinted could try to switch to
  standalone and test again ?

* your box is a i386 ? unstable uptodate ?
