I'm sorry I wasn't fully awake at the time I wrote that email I guess.
The real issue appears to be that stock is not part of the standard
and should not be listed in the file at all. I assume that is the
reason kde is complaining with the message:

kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /usr/share/icons/hicolor/ gr=
oup 16x16/stock/chart not valid.

"the context the icon is normally used in. This can be used to e.g.
let the user pick an specific type of icon. Currently used contexts
are: Actions, Applications, Devices, FileSystems, MimeTypes."
