I strongly disagree: The program has a start icon in the GNOME menu.
Nowhere does it say it is just a deamon (and how should a user guess?).
This is a totally unexpected behaviour for a program you start via the
GNOME menu (which is a reason why I did not even think about docs).

Expected behaviour in such a case would be that the program offers some
explanation like a dialogue explaining the situation and offering to
open the folder with the available plugins. Or, better yet, display a
dialogue to select plugins from a list. Or how about an addition to the
context menu in the window manager, so you can a "Add gdesklet plugin
..." there?

Where do I find these ".display" files? "man gdesklets" doesn't tell me
this, so I had to search for them in /usr. Not really the expected thing
for a GUI program.

It is still my opinion that for the average desktop user (DO NOT read as
'beginner' or 'dumbass') this is totally unexpected behaviour and the
user gets the impression the program crashes while starting.

In the name of usability something should be changed here so I suggest
you reopen this bug. The documentation should be clarified and the user
should get some information when he/she first invokes gdesklets. Thanks.

Kind regards

Andreas
