Severity: normal
gnome-desktop-environment depends on mozilla-xft that depends on
mozilla-browser. So it forces the installation of mozilla browser
in addition of Epiphany/Galeon (and people like I using firefox
end up having 3 browsers installed).
a few solutions...:
* you could add mozilla (if mozilla is enough
"gnome compatible", same for Firefox) in the 'OR' list of browsers
dependences. So if people choose mozilla as browser then wont at
least have Galeon/Epiphany as a second one.
* suppress mozilla-xft dependence in gnome-desktop-environment
* forward this bug to mozilla-xft maintainer so that it does not
depends on mozilla-browser (only).

No, this is wrong. Even without mozilla-xft in the depends,
gnome-desktop-environment pulls mozilla-browser anyway, as Epiphany
depends on it.

No, Mozilla is no good replacement for epiphany.

Won't help at all, mozilla will be pulled anyway.

Doesn't make sense. mozilla-xft provided xft support for mozilla, and
indirectly, to epiphany and galeon. A few revisions ago, mozilla-xft
ceased to exist and the support is included in the main mozilla package
now. The dependency remains for compatibility with the version in Sarge,
but will be removed soon, hopefully before the release.
The summary is that until mozilla doesn't allow to package Gecko
separately, epiphany users will need to install both ephy and mozilla.
It sucks, but that's how it works right now.
