Bug#284956: gnome-terminal: Gnome freezes if tab closes when user is in 'open tab' menu

Description of Problem:
The entire GNOME session freezes(ie no widgets
respond to anything) if a Gnome Terminal tab
closes when the user is browsing the File->New Tab
menu.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open Gnome Terminal
2. Open a second tab 
3. In the second tab run: 
    sleep 4 ; exit
4. Before the exit command runs, open the File->New Tab
menu 
5. wait

Actual Results:
Entire Gnome session is froze. Must kill Gnome
Terminal from console to restore state.

Expected Results:
Tab closes. File->New Tab menu is updated *next*
time user opens it.

How often does this happen? 
Every time. This has been an issue in Gnome 2.4 also
