Hello all,
I had the same problem on my laptop which also uses the snd_intel8x0 module o=
f
kernel 2.6.1. I used Sebastien's hint to run 'gstreamer-properties'. Looks
like a very nice little program!
Selecting Alsa doesn't work however. If I press the test button, I do see a
bar moving from left to right and back, but I don't hear anything.
Using the OSS output (I have the OSS-compatibility modules loaded), I do get
the test sound (I think: is it supposed to be an annoying continuues Star
Wars-like laser beam beep?). There still is the two-second delay however.
Selecting ESD output gives me almost the same sound, but a little higher. I
suppose this is due to the fact that my sound card only accepts 48000Hz sound=
.
The conversion is wrong for either OSS or ESD I suppose. To good thing about
ESD is that there is no more delay in playing!
Though this is a functioning solution, I suppose all these layers of software
cause some unneccesary overhead:=20
Sound program <--> ESD <--> OSS <--> OSS-to-ALSA conversion <--> ALSA
drivers.
Hope this gives someone a clue what's wrong. But thanks for the hint!
Regards,
Jeroen.
