Hi,

Could you try with gstreamer directly:
  $ gst-launch-0.8 gnomevfssrc location=3D/path/to/my/musicfile.ogg !
spider ! volume ! audioscale ! audioconvert ! $(gconftool-2 -g /system/
gstreamer/0.8/default/audiosink)

Which soundcard are you using ? Do you have the problem with all the
streams ?
