 Active field works at least in my computer. I cannot reproduce the bug
 original submitter has.

 Yes, they work. Of course they have some issues, but they work for
 people who will usually need the aid of a graphical interface to change
 their settings. That hotplug and device mapping are not supported
 doesn't mean this tools are not suitable for sarge.

 I agree that it should not add anything if it doesn't know what the
 interface is.
