Bug#258983: gnome-panel: no icons shown in icon browser available from "create launcher" dialog

If right-click on panel, choose "Add to Panel->Launcher", then click on
the Icon button, a browser is popped up.  As of a recent upgrade, that
browser no longer shows an icons, though the directory in question
(/usr/share/pixmaps) does have icons, which can be selected from the
file browser available under the "browse" button.

I can also get to that icon browser from e.g. gnome menu->Desktop
Preferences->Advanced->File types and programs, clickon on "Add File
Type", then clicking on "No Icon".  I get an identical browser, pointing
to the same directory (/usr/share/pixmaps), and the icons are correctly
displayed.
