This may be related to 242932, but I don't think it is.
Since my last update, I cannot type. After some searching with different
X setups and failsafe XTerm sessions, I figured out the following:
Usually, when you press a key, the window gets first a KeyPressEvent
followed by a KeyReleaseEvent. Now after I start
gnome-keyboard-properties (probably any other of the *-properties, as
they all start loading the whole configuration), not a single
KeyPressEvent gets through to the window. Instead, the focus seems to be
grabbed by some other window, only the KeyReleaseEvent gets through.
Normal mode (X & xterm &):
KeyPress event, serial 21, synthetic NO, window 0x800001,
