Clarification on this: it shows a number of minutes, but that number
never goes down to zero.

Yes, there is no difference as far as I can tell. But I have thought
about something: could it be that my way of using X11 affects this? I
run Windows 2000 on my PC, and then connect to the Linux server running
the GNOME Display Manager (GDM). What this means is that I don't sit
and run everything in the X11 session and thus, sometimes I leave the
session for a couple of seconds up to a couple of minutes. Perhaps this
is interpreted in the gnome-typing-monitor as taking a break. Do you
know off the top of your head how long you have to be absent for the
typing monitor to treat it as a break?
