I have also had these problems with the quickcam.ko driver (cvs version of qc-usb) (logitech express).  I can't say for sure if the problem persists as I am currently trying the vicam driver (3com homeconnect camera).  Gnomemeeting works pretty well unless I "Enable Video transmission".

I have seen gnomemeeting (0.98-current?) lock when sending only a "Picture" as video.  Sometimes audio continues to function after the gui locks.

I have also seen gnomemeeting (including 1.0.2)  lock when enabling local preview.  (Not fully reproducable) 

Gnomemeeting ALWAYS locks for me under the current configuration when video (V4L - vicam) transmission is supposed to happen (although audio sometimes continues).  Disabling video transmission prevents this.
