Run totem.  Run gnome-alsamixer.  Play a movie in totem and attempt
to adjust volume using the PCM element -- or whatever element totem/xine
listens to in gnome-alsamixer.

This is the following message emitted by totem:

totem: pthread_mutex_lock.c:78: __pthread_mutex_lock: Assertion
`mutex->__data.__owner == 0' failed.

OSS modules are not installed.  Totem is forced to use alsa devices
in .gnome2/totem_config file.
