Bug#247065: gdm 2.4.4.7-1 gnome-session problem

I am currently using 2.4.1.7-1 after my third attempt to upgrade to 
2.4.4.7.  The migration from /etc/gdm/ to /etc/dm for session
information leaves me with a non-working gnome session -- I am not sure
if the problem is with gnome-session or ssh-agent or another package,
but whenever I try to use the gnome session provided in the new gdm,
the x server dies and respawns, with no logs left to indicate the source
of problem.

I can use failsafe gnome, but no other session.  When the gnome-session
provided in /usr/share/xsessions/gnome.desktop is selected, X dies.

I searched the bug reports and google and have not found a solution to
the problem, other than staying with gdm 2.4.1.7-1, which is
undesirable in the long-term.
