It seems to be a problem in ppc and with 2.4 kernels, could you show me
the output of the following commands, please?

$ cat /proc/cpufreq
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo

I think the problem could be an infinite loop when the applet tries to
get the number of cpus or when it parses the cpufreq /proc information.
