You can select the file(s). Then use properties from the file menu.

You should talk about it with upstream. On irc (server: irc.gimp.org , channel 
#nautilus) or via the gnome bug reporter (either install bug-buddy or go to:i
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ ). 
You can t take a maintenair in hostage to get your ideas integrated upstream :)
You may close this bug if you feel gnome project is a better correspondant for 
request features (i m afraid debian maintenair have less time to code than 
nautilus developpers). instructions acn be found in 
http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer.
