Hello,
=46rom what you posted, you may have accessibility features turned on.
You can test that by running:
$ gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility
If it's true, then you have that turned on.
Unless you have a need for that, you can turn them off by running:
$ gconftool-2 --type bool -s /desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility false
This doesn't however excuse gnome-terminal for being slow even with
accessibility turned of (albeit less slow).
It's also quite bad that people needing accessibility features suffer
such a performance problem, but there is to be said that accessibility
features are still under heavy development.
