gnome-terminal flickers when switching / creating / closing tabs.

Probably I see the flickering because I use a black terminal background,
and I see a white flash before the other tab is redrawn.  As GNOME is
rather flicker-free (at least as compared to KDE) and as I use
gnome-terminal a lot, this artifact is very annoying.
